MPT200 Flame Treater

We worked with the Proud company, who provided the hardware design and components, for this project. We provided the PLC and HMI programming for an 8-position flame treatment machine. The system was deployed on a Mitsubishi FX series PLC and and a small GT100 HMI module. Eight vacuum chucks are mounted on a circular index plate. When vacuum is applied parts are held in place as they travel through the machine.

Parts are placed onto the chuck currently at the load position. A light curtain detects the operator's withdrawal from the loading area and triggers the vacuum chuck to lock the part in place. The index plate is then rotated to the next position. When a part is detected at the burner position the flame is ignited and the part rotated. The speed and number of rotations are specified on the HMI. When complete the flame is extinguished.
